The last few years I have been choosing a word for the year and trying to set goals that compliment it.
This years word is progress. I need to make progress in my quilting life. There are too many unfinished projects in my stash, too many designs I need to make into patterns floating around in my head, too many unused pieces of fabric in my stash that should be used in something and the list goes on. Then there is my new and continuing interest in textile art and art in general that I want to make progress in by taking classes and just doing it.
I would also like to make progress in my spiritual life and a devotion in 1 Timothy helped me find my word for this year. It came from chapter 4 verse 15 which says, "Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress." It was specifically about sharing the Gospel with others but it holds so very true in all areas of life.
As many of you who know me, know I struggle a bit with putting myself out there and sharing my creative work for all to see and critique. I have made progress as of January 4 (was my father's birthday) with my classroom debut on The Quilt Show. I was so nervous when we filmed it and as I watched it I saw things I didn't like and that I should have said and ways to improve upon it. I am working on letting it go because there isn't much I can do about that now. I am so grateful to Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims for allowing me that opportunity. If you are interested in seeing it you can go to thequiltshow.com and click on the Learn button at the top of the page and then click on classroom and you will find it. Writing this down too is progress for me.
May this year be for each of you a year of beginnings, joy and progress in the things you want to accomplish.
Blessings,
Dee
